Area Woman Charged In $12.4K ID Theft Case

A woman from Pine Plains has been charged after police say she was involved in a case of identity theft totaling $12,400.

New York State Police say Maryann Moore-Tompkins, 57, of Pine Plains allegedly stole the identity of a victim between October 2016 and October 2018.

Moore-Tompkins stole approximately $12,455, according to police.

New York State Police from the Rhinebeck barracks arrested Moore-Tompkins on Wednesday, April 17. She faces the following charges:

  • Third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony
  • Second-degree identity theft, a Class E felony (eight counts)
  • Unlawful possession of personal identification, a Class A misdemeanor (31 counts)
  • Third-degree identity theft, a Class A misdemeanor (23 counts)

Moore-Tompkins was arraigned before the town of Milan Court and released to the supervision of Dutchess County Probation. She is scheduled to appear before the town of Rhinebeck Court on Sunday, May 5.
